  • A very interesting place made even better by the man leading the tour. He just gave us the facts about the home and about Hemingway’s life. He did not speculate or embellish. I had a wonderful time.  more »
  • The house is a double treat. For those who are interested in Hemingway there is a tremendous amount of history shared about his early life in Oak Park. For house tour lovers, you get up close and personal to a grand 1890s Queen Anne Victorian - albeit not to everyone’s taste - but an excellent tour in a period-accurate, beautifully restored house. Our docent, Sue, was exceptional!
  • The place is in perfect condition, and the tour guides to a fabulous job of bringing Hemingway's childhood to life with vivid detail. I was a few minutes late but the tour guide covered the parts my friend and I missed later. They're also happy to answer any questions. Hemingway fans would find them a wealth of information and resources.
  • We came to late to tour but the front desk lady gave us a very intresting blurb of information and was very joyful.
  • Great Place to visit if you are a fan of Ernest Hemingway or for anyone who likes Museums and History. The volunteers/tour guides are avid fans are well versed with the history of the place and the writer and have many stories to share.
  • The tour was great. The staff informed is where the childhood home was. This house is the birth place and maternal family home.
