  • This was our third visit to Oak Island lighthouse. It has ships ladders instead of a spiral staircase, like most lighthouses we've been in. Four volunteers lead tours by reservation. Tours are done in...  more »

  • The volunteers are all very friendly and informative. Views from the top are amazing! You just can't show up and expect to climb though; have to request at least 2 weeks in advance.
  • Really interesting and nice volunteers. No charge, but depends on donations for upkeep.

  • 224 Caswell Beach Rd Oak Island, NC is where you'll find the Oak Island Lighthouse, but it sits right next to the road, so it might be best to shoot it from the dunes´╗┐.
  • I have climbed to the top twice now. It was a really fun thing to do. Not a spiral staircase...ship ladder-style steps, a landing after each set of steps. The views from the top ate awesome. Both times, the volunteers were so friendly and gracious!!
