Categories: Valleys, Historic Walking Areas, Nature & Parks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web
Nuuanu Pali Lookout melds scenic vistas with a site of deep historical and cultural significance. The point, sitting over 305 m (1,000 ft) above Oahu's coastline, provides panoramic views of the Koolau cliffs and Windward Coast. Bring your camera along to capture images of Kāne'ohe, Kāne'ohe Bay, and Kailua. The tranquility and beauty of this spot seems at odds with its dark history. It was the site of one of the bloodiest battles in Hawaiian history, the Battle of Nu'uanu in 1795, in which King Kamehameha I conquered Oahu. Nu'uanu Pali is also known for its incredibly strong winds. Avoid wearing skirts, dresses, or hats, or be prepared to hold on tight to them. Using our international travel planner, Kaneohe attractions like Nuuanu Pali Lookout can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.
