The Diamond Jo Casino – Worth is a casino and entertainment complex in Worth County, Iowa, near Northwood. The casino is owned and operated by Boyd Gaming, which also owns the Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque, Iowa. It is a member of the Iowa Gaming Association, and its license is held by the Worth County Development Authority. The property opened on April 6, 2006, with a grand opening celebration on April 18, 2006.The Diamond Jo is located off of I-35 at Exit 214, just south of the Minnesota border. The casino, along with the nearby Top of Iowa Welcome Center are quickly creating a rapidly growing and developing area just off Exit 214.   • I am truly very upset with my experience at your casino this past weekend. A few of my friends and I decided to come down for the weekend, as I have only been there a time or two in the past. Friday was fine, Saturday not so much. Saturday we were gambling all afternoon, we had a few cocktails, were sitting by the bar listening to the band, I went to put my phone in my hotel room because it was dead, and upon my return , the man at the front gate wouldn’t let me in. He asked me how many beverages I had, I told him four, as that was the truth. I WAS SOBER! He proceeded to tell me that my eyes were red and that I was intoxicated so he wouldn’t let me back in. And then was calling security over to assist him. I actually thought he was kidding at first. I mean, my eyes are always red – I work 60-70 hours a week, and wear contacts. There are many reasons a person’s eyes may be red; allergies, smoke (as it IS a casino), contacts, dry, tired, etc. I then went upstairs so I could call my friends as they were still in the bar area. They met me at the OTHER entrance (yes, I know this was wrong but I was livid and I’m sorry, the man at the front gate should have called a manager as I requested). And then FOUR security guards surrounded our table and kicked me out AGAIN. I proceeded to ask them for a manager, someone above their heads to speak with, to no avail. So in all honesty I think you need to reassess your “guidelines” on letting someone enter your establishment. I don’t think that “red eyes” is a reason to deny entry. And if you are just going to kick people out for having a few beverages maybe you should re-think the bar. I mean I would have totally understood if I was belligerent, or slurring my words, or even falling over. However, I was none of those things, just enjoying girl’s night. It’s unfortunate that this happened because I can’t think of a reason that I would ever come back after the way that I was treated, and we have handed in our player’s cards. Not interested in giving establishment money only to be humiliated without a chance to defend myself or get a second opinion. And to make matters worse, I have heard 3 other stories from other people and friends that this has happened to them. I have seen a few reviews also. Word of mouth is a terrible thing. I will not hesitate to tell someone of my experience in hopes that it doesn’t happen to someone else. I just hope that someone there sees the error and fixes it before you lose any more business.
  • this place has gone down hill so bad used to go weekly now only once in ayear and not sure should go at all. minnesota casinos at least give you some play. shame on this casino it is pathetic
  • Been there several time since new ownership spent alot of money in short time no fun it use to be fun when first opened now waisted of time money no bonuses on machine and when people do nothing I'm headed to other casinos from now on advise other people to the star is for food good over priced
  • I'm extremely disappointed. First weekend off in 3 months & we decide to step out of our comfort zone & do a little gambling. Last call was announced at 1:05. Bought two drinks for me & the lady. We were sipping slowly while playing penny slots. At 1:47 AM some guy approaches us behind our chairs & yells angrily that he's taking our drinks. We apologize & say we were unaware & ask what time we were supposed to have to handed our drinks in. He replies with "UHM, RIGHT NOW!" We work hard the entire year and decide to splurge a bit once & get treated like criminals. I'm sure no law says drinks must be out of consumers hands at 1:47 AM. Embarrassing & insulting after spending money at this establishment & choosing it for our weekend destination.
  • Just stopped in for the Buffet,, Prime Rib & scalloped potatoes with ham were great,, Fried Chicken had a Fish taste from frying in the same oil as Fish... Server lady was very nice and hard working, kept the soda full. Left a nice tip and plan on going back next time I am in the area. Thank You!
