3.9/5 based on 50+ reviews on the web
Earning its first national ranking in 1987 by Golf Digest as America’s #1 New Public Course, Heather Glen Golf Course in Little River, South Carolina, has been recognized among the Carolinas’ and country’s best golf courses throughout the years since.

Named to the Top 50 Public Courses in America in 1990, the Top 5 Courses in South Carolina in 1995 and awarded 4.5 Stars in Golf Digest’s Places to Play readers’ choice poll in 2002, Heather Glens’ award winning tradition is as historic as it’s 19th century Scottish design.

If you’ve never visited this championship Myrtle Beach golf course before, you’ll find its 27 totally distinctive golf holes far more beautiful in their maturity and its setting truly spectacular, especially as you approach the impressive period-style traditional Scottish clubhouse.

Against a native background of graceful oaks, towering pines, freshwater ponds and meandering streams, Heather Glen was assuredly crafted by design to pay tribute to Scotland and Ireland — a fact you’ll find apparent in its links-like embrace.

  • We arrived with little knowledge simply looking to play another course. We saw a sign stating it was top new course in 1987. We started playing and quickly realized what once was an awesome golf cours...  read more »
  • Loved the round of golf I played here. Greens, course, clubhouse were all well worth the money! Very challenging course
  • Very nice golf course that is tough but fair. Had 18 golfers and all agreed it was a fun day. Lady working in the Pro shop was very nice and provided us with close up markers for our group. Will play ...  read more »
  • Golf courses are generally judged on three things - layout, maintenance, and customer service. Heather Glen's course layout ranked mediocre, the maintenance sub-par but the customer service was the nail in the coffin at down right rude and the definition of indifferent. So lackadaisical, I am taking the time out to write a review - which I never do. With a group of 14 golfers with varied handicaps between 10- 18 we selected Heather Glen as an off the beaten track round out to an otherwise stellar, week long golf trip. After our 10 handicappers were accused by the ranger and the water boy for playing too slowly while waiting on the tee boxes behind incredulously slow foursomes in front of us at up to 5 minutes per hole, we arrived to the clubhouse to a bartender who welcomed us with, "How many of you are there because I'm closing early." Southern hospitality is dead at Heather Glen - best to spend your time and money at a better managed course!
  • Clubhouse and course has impressive traditional Scottish architecture and design, a real gem on the north end of the Grand Strand! 27 holes and my favorite round is having the back nine challenge of finishing over the water on to the large green in front of the beautiful clubhouse!
  • Watch out for the water on 18!
  • Fun course. Greens were in great shape and the staff was awesome. Very cool clubhouse as well. I'm definitely playing this one again.
  • great course, loved the greens! Will be back again for sure.
