  • Sadly disappointed with this tour. Good job it was free. Tour guide spent most of the time talking about campus life and how much fun the meteorology department was, not much weather talk. Actual tour...  more »

  • This is an Amazing place. I could live here. I always enjoy visiting the NWC.
  • For a non-employee, a tour must be booked in advance, but the cost is free. If in the Oklahoma City area, take a stop at the OU campus like we did on our road trip. I was surprised that the tour got into more technical specifics rather than just a kid-friendly overview of basic weather or some stylized "storm chasers" explanation of what the researchers at NWC do. They do have some fun props from the movie Twister, but the tour as a whole is certainly devoted to the accurate portrayal of the daily operations here. They also have some mildly amusing stories about their vehicle fleet and some of the hail damage they have received over the years. A nice tour for being free.
  • Eh. Took a tour of the NWC lead by a sophomore student. Content was fine if you were interested in the building and VERY light weather education. The tour leader apparently lacked the background, experience, and history to even attempt a cogent answer to a question like "how is data combined from radar, ground weather stations, satellite, etc., to generate images used for sever weather condition predictions." If you like to see decision makers looking at large monitors or ever wondered why the building's light well doesn't line up with the roof window, this tour is for you. I think the tour leader did his best, but just didn't have enough background to handle any mildly technical questions. I hope management can correct this as it could be a very interesting tour.
  • There was lots of interesting information provided about weather service. Staff was friendly. Lunch at the flying cow was great.
  • Amazing technology, plenty of parking, and one of the best cafes around with the Flying Cow Cafe.
