  • tudor style house with mainly arts and crafts furniture and lots of interesting art work from many areas of the world.
  • Last month I attended a GORGOUS wedding here and all I can say is WOW! What a spot! I truly remain in awe of the beauty there! Everyone should visit!

  • Unique museum and gardens on a Peninsula. Very hidden... First I heard of it... So had to see it Good for hour or two... Very informative and original.. A donation to the people of Norfolk from a citizen... Way cool... Check it out.... What a cool gift...
  • Wonderful place to visit! Gardens and house are beautiful. So much art and history that beautifully complements each other.
  • I've visited this quaint little morsel of hidden history in Norfolk, since I was in high school. I'm still impressed with their gardens, grounds and of course the art on display. The hermitage building itself is a work of art.
  • My boyfriend surprised me by taking me and our puppy to the Hermitage right before sunset. This was my first visit and because we had the puppy we couldn't go inside. However, they do have posts with puppy clean-up bags which I found very friendly. I thought it was so beautiful. You can see oyster environment preservation balls from the paths. And there is little information plaques about the different things on the property. It is in a quiet, secluded area, but the shipyard in the background would set a formal tone off. The grounds are clean and beautiful even after this snowfall.
  • This is most likely one of the most overlooked gems of the region. The Hermitage Museum is beautifully situated on the Elizabeth River. Acres of gardens, woods, and coastal environments while the house contains a deep and eclectic fine art collection. A great place to take out of town guests.
