  • My friend and I just got back from a three night tent camping stay at Rocky Bayou. This park is very near the city of Niceville and traffic can occasionally be heard in the distance. The campsites are...  more »
  • This woodsy, well-kept state park lies just off Hwy. 20 in Niceville, Fl. Once you are cosily tucked into one of its spacious, shady camping spots, it is hard to believe you are even close to a busy h...  more »
  • I believe it costs $5 to get in, but with the season pass it's free. Overall clean and well kempt. It has trails, picnic areas, and a boat launch. It's adjacent to Rocky Bayou which goes to the bay.

  • Wonderful park with friendly helpful staff. I go to the park often for kayaking, canoeing, nature trails, and just relaxing and having a nice picnic. The park is located in Niceville, and I have had nothing but positive experiences here. When the water is calm in the bay you can see dolphins pretty regularly, as they bring their babies there to feed! They have great clean camp grounds, a boat ramp for fun time on the water, a playground for the kids, grills and picnic tables, walking trails, and a friendly, helpful staff. I would recommended this park to anyone. Entrance fees are reasonable and if you live in the state of Florida I would recommended buying the yearly pass so you can enjoy all the outdoor activities the state offers. Hope this review helps convince you to get out there and have some fun in the Florida sun.
  • I just left this campsite. We had lot#23. This park is Absolutely beautiful. I loved every second we were there. It was quite and the park was very clean. It was so Awesome being so close to nature. A few animals I saw were squirrels( of course 😊 ), rabbits, and ( last night was our last night there 😢) we had a huge BEAUTIFUL Armadillo come up right on our camp site. It was Amazing seeing animals this close. The squirrels are a little brave though so while driving just stop so you can let them pass. I did the nature trail and it was Absolutely beautiful! We burned wood (bought in town) and cooked all of our food over open campfire. They had a really cool tent pad ( that's made for your tent) that puts your tent up a little higher from the ground so when it rains it doesn't flood. We were told the Boy Scouts built this. AWESOME JOB GUYS!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ This thing was Awesome. Our tent was a little bigger because it's designed for a smaller tent but it made a step up on the front which kept dirt out and a pocket in the back on the inside. This is where I stored my kids toys and a blow up mattress could easily go over the top and cover it up. We fell asleep to two hooting owls the first night. The parks are very Awesome. My kids had a blast. Love the privacy stairways in the park that go down straight to the water. We tried to fish on the pier but we had no luck. The fish just weren't biting. 😞 This is an Awesome place over all and all the state park workers were really nice and comforting. I would DEFINITELY go back. Thanks ❤️ The only suggestion that I would make is possibly putting a restroom closer to the lot ( #23) that we were in. That walk to the restroom is cool but we almost had a few accidents. I will miss you while we are gone but we will be back! Thank you so much. Btw these bathroom were spotless! These were the cleanest restrooms I have been too. I loved that! Great people who work there and care for this park.
  • Amazing!! Doesn't look like much on the map, but has amazing habitat diversity. Trails are well designed. Informative media placed throughout the park. Most of the trails are shaded by large trees. So, might be good for midday when the sun is baking you everywhere else. Did I mention they have pitcher plants??
  • If you have pitbulls DO NOT come to this place. We payed to stay here for a week, as we were packing up to pull our camper out my sweet two year old pit Nila got out. A woman with a stroller was walking by and Nila who absolutely loves kids, keep in mind pitbulls are known for being "nanny dogs." The woman acted like everything was fine & ended up calling the park rangers. After speaking with the park ranger they asked what kind of dog we had & we proceeded to tell them it doesn't matter what the breed was if my dog was " ferocious." They then called FWC to write us a citation. FWC even agreed that the whole situation was stupid but the park was still pushing for a tresspassing warning. We are now band for a year even though our family has time share there & we paid $115 to stay there. So if you want your dog to be judge & mistreated not to mention the constant harassment about parking DO NOT come here! I've never in my life met people so judgemental. That being said go educate yourself on this misunderstood breed.
  • Beautiful state park, very reasonably priced. Sites are spacious, bathroom facilities were clean and well attended. Ample sites for picnics. Boat launch is in great condition and the adjacent Rocky Bayou is a perfect place to water ski or have an evening boat cruise.
