  • I have very mixed feelings about this place. The books are very very cheap between $1 and $4, which is a third order of what other used book stores charge. (I've been to used book stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine.) My problem is the people working at the bookstore, they don't really acknowledge you when you walk in it. The people who are buying books from you just kind of throw them around on the counter, whether or not they want them or not.One of our DVDs was tossed so hard that it actually went off the table and onto the ground and DVD popped out of the case, and that was one that they didn't want What if it got scratched or broken. The guy just left it there, I was the one who had to walk over an pick in up while the women (with black hair) who was working the entrance to the parking lot just laughed at the guy who threw it there. Oh and don't expect an explanation of what they're actually giving you for your books that they do buy from you. When you do ask you more or less get a vague non explanation. I mean it kind of makes me wonder about how they'd feel if I just walked around pulling books off the shelves looking at it, then through it over my shoulder instead of putting it back. The only shining star was the woman working the children store. She was very friendly and pleasant. Today was our third visit in the first 2 times were pretty much the same as today's. If you do choose to go try Dad's Restaurant down the street from Downtown Book Barn. Very Good.
  • This place is so great!!! There are buildings upon buildings of books and such fun decorations! My boyfriend and I decided to stop in as we passed it, and we were amazed by the size and selection. There are also 3 cats and 2 goats. The cats are really friendly! Our favorite was Evinrude; he snuggled right up to us and purred. I want to go back some day but it's a bit far out of the way for me. Anyway, I would definitely recommend this shop to bookworms and casual readers alike.
  • My personal favorite is the Downtown location for the scifi and cookbooks, but the main location is really cool, too. Excellent personality and really good prices on the books. Go in with an open mind, though, because you'll run into may more books than you thought you needed.
  • The Book Barn is the only used book store I would (and regularly do) drive an hour to visit. A fantastic place to peruse, so much to look at, and fun stuff for the kids to do once they get bored of looking at books, from trivial pursuit to basketball. Don't forget to say hi to the goats and the handful of friendly cats that wander the property!
  • Heaven on Earth! I used to live right around the corner, and would visit multiple times a week. Now I stop by whenever I'm in or even driving vaguely nearby.
