Thames Street, Newport
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Pop into the antiques mall, shop in boutiques, visit museums, and admire the historic architecture of waterfront Thames Street. One of the city’s original two streets, this road passes through several blocks of what used to be a Quaker settlement in the 17th and 18th centuries. Today it accesses marinas and the harbor. Walking rather than driving makes it easy to shop and peruse the menus of the seafood restaurants. Put Thames Street at the forefront of your travel plans using our Newport vacation generator.

Some great authentic shops... some tourist traps. You'll know the difference. Bring your gold card! ;)
Thames street runs the lenght of the warf in Newport, with shops, restuarnts, and just about anything you are looking for. Parking is tricky, as it fills up fast, but patients rules out.
Congested especially with tour groups from cruise ships and busses. Several good restaurants, lovely view of wharf, honky tonk shops except further south. Very much a commercial fishing area.
