4/5 based on 1,600+ reviews on the web
One of the nation’s favorite marine attractions, Oregon Coast Aquarium is still best remembered as the home to Free Willy’s star orca, Keiko. Dive into experiences of marine life at Passages of the Deep, wave hello to the Tufted Puffin at Seabird Aviary, and explore outdoor mammal exhibits to find out more about otters, seals, and sea lions. It’s so easy to immerse yourself in learning and wonder at this aquarium, especially as you pass through the acrylic tunnel surrounded by underwater wildlife. It is also possible to snorkel or dive in the tanks, or to spend a night sleeping under the sharks exhibit! • This place has inside and outside activities. You really get a feel for then local marine life. We couldn't get on the Marine Discovery Tour but I don't think we missed much by coming here. Bring the ...  read more »
  • It's been years since I visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium and I'm so glad we decided to visit on this trip out to the Coast. It was fantastic! I was a bit taken aback by the pricing of entrance, it's ...  read more »
  • This may or may not be a great aquarium...but my daughter and I both enjoyed it. It has places you can touch sea life which is pretty cool. We loved watching the otters of course! And the sea lions an...  read more »
  • At first I found this aquarium quite small, but as I started exploring the whole of the ocean opened up before me! We were able to see many different feedings (the sea otters and sea lions were highlights) and with some patience was able to see the giant octopus (when it wasn't superiorly hiding). There are some great views along the nature trail as well (after the awesome glass tunnels). There were a lot of people there when we went (Sunday afternoon during summer), and it seemed that they spread out decent enough to be able to enjoy it without getting bumped around. My favorite from the visit was playing "find the wolf eel" in several of the tanks (there is a whole family dispersed among several tanks, for safety reasons).
  • Took our two toddler sons. This aquarium is set up as a family friendly environment. Fun to explore and both boys loved looking around. They have rental strollers available if you need one. The stroller rides great on the gravel paths however it doesn't have a storage area for a diaper bag.
  • Pretty cool exhibit, not the best aquarium I've been to. It's a great place to see the larger sea life you won't find at the science center or by going to the beach. The shark tunnel is pretty cool, but with the glass floors young kids may be too afraid to walk it on their own. We got discounted tickets at a radio auction so it was really cheap. They also have season passes if you plan to go often
  • I live in the Newport Oregon area and finally made it to the aquarium today after living here for 4 years and wanting to visit the aquarium very much. The admission was $22 and I was really expecting something special. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my experience at the aquarium. I was expecting to see so many different types of ocean creatures but what I found were displays that were meant for children and not adult. My recommendation is save your money and do not go unless you have small children and then you may be happy with the experience. The grounds themselves are very nice and well kept but don't expect to see many types of larger fish because most all the fish are small. Needless to say I was very disappointed.
  • I brought my family from Aberdeen Washington to see this Aquarium. I have read that this is one to the top ten aquariums in the United States. The website looks way better than in person. The kids enjoyed it. Not too sure that I will go back as the price was kind of high for the experience.
