  • We had a Groupon so the price was half, otherwise this would have been way overpriced. They have some nice art and cool mansion, but it only takes about an hour to tour and is hardly ever open.
  • What a gem on Bellevue Avenue! The National Museum of American Illustration is a labor of love and vision of Laurence and Judy Cutler who converted Vernon Court, an American Renaissance mansion, into ...  more »
  • Great art by Rockwell and others and it is ironic that back in their day, they were not considered to be artists...just illustrators who painted for money. Isn't that what all artists want?

  • Extraordinary experience. Wonderful collection of pre-1980s illustrations in a magnificent venue. Note especially how each piece is brilliantly presented in a frame that feels as though it were part of the original. Well worth a special trip to Newport, RI.
  • It would be helpful to know what days and times it is open and will the web site be changed to reflect it?
  • Very expensive gift shops!
  • We arranged a tour outside of the regular hours (which you can do). What a beautiful building and grounds! And the marvelous collection of illustration artists is a delight to see, in interesting themed arrangements--beautiful large pieces by Maxfield Parrish, Saturday Evening Post cover artist paintings by Norman Rockwell, John Falter, Leyendecker, Dohanos, etc. Finally illustration artists are given their due respect for their great works. Definitely worth taking the time to see!
  • im giving it 5 stars because it is fascinating and full of so much history. but only opened ONE day a week does not do it any justice.! the doors need to be opened up more often.
