Categories: State Parks, Hiking Trails, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web
Spend a day on the coast and admire the unusual play of waves at Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area. The highlight of the park is a natural rock bowl, the result of the collapse of two coastal caves. The bowl is partially open to the ocean, allowing waves to enter. During high surf, you can watch the waves violently swirl and foam inside the bowl. The coastline is lined with different rock formations and tide pools. In addition to wave-watching, the park offers opportunities for surfing, hiking, and picnicking. Whales migrate through this area and, in season, you can easily spot them from the beach.
