  • Took my dog here. His first time to the ocean. We were staying at the Motel 6 and wanted to go somewhere close. It was cold and breezy but a lot of fun. My dog went crazy after seeing that much water. The only downside were the mosquitoes along the path through the trees and bushes. Once we got to the ocean, they disappeared.
  • Beautiful area, close access to the beach and dunes. While camping there it does not feel like you're in Newport, but you are so makes things super convenient. There's a restaurant on the bay front (can't remember the name but its a two story blue building with a gorgeous view overlooking the sea lions, GET THE BISON BURGER MEDIUM RARE! Best burger I've ever had and they have a super friendly helpful staff.
  • awesome state park - only 2 downsides. Only 1 dump station, so it can take a while when departing, and the mosquitoes are out in FORCE this year. Bring bug spray or don't go outside!
  • Tons of mosquitoes. For a place where people camp you would think they would help make it a pleasant place to stay and spray if necessary. You can't have a good time when you step outside and are attacked by hundreds or more.
  • Lovely park, but the older man at hospitality was far from hospitable. Incredibly rude service has brought a 5 star review down to 2.
