Zoo / Aquarium
One of the nation’s favorite marine attractions, Oregon Coast Aquarium is still best remembered as the home to Free Willy’s star orca, Keiko. Dive into experiences of marine life at Passages of the Deep, wave hello to the Tufted Puffin at Seabird Aviary, and explore outdoor mammal exhibits to find out more about otters, seals, and sea lions. It’s so easy to immerse yourself in learning and wonder at this aquarium, especially as you pass through the acrylic tunnel surrounded by underwater wildlife. It is also possible to snorkel or dive in the tanks, or to spend a night sleeping under the sharks exhibit! Put Oregon Coast Aquarium on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Newport travel itinerary planner.

  • The new exhibit Big Bites was underwhelming. It was definitely designed for children not adults. I expected more for a 25th Anniversary exhibit. The theater has been removed and turned into a children...  more »
  • Grew up in Portland, but visited here often as a child, moving back to the area as a adult, I can still say this place is worth every penny! The Oregon Coast Aquarium is small but mighty. The exhibits...  more »

  • One of the best aquariums the family has been to. Great for all ages and definitely a full afternoon, so plan on spending some time here. It can be a lot of walking so for those who are older with limitations just a heads up. Great for kids of all ages including a playground to help the little ones get some energy out and give parents a break. Highly recommend putting this on the list to do, lots of awesome stuff to see (even the teenager enjoyed it....)!
  • Definitely for younger kids. I'd say 10 and under. Love otters and sea lions. Don't know why but was expecting more from the octopus exhibit. Jellyfish were OK but some were dead. Have teens 14 & 17 they thought it was good but we've been to better aquariums. Overpriced for what you get.
  • My son and I had a wonderful time here! We've been a few times and it is always a wonderful and educational experience. The staff is always delightful as well! You can get a coupon on rack cards from the Chamber of Commerce prior to going to save a little money.
  • Absolutely memorable! The Shipwreck and Jaws exhibits were very informative and interesting. The on site staff were pleasant and helpful. The best trip to the aquarium in years.
  • Great experience for the whole family. Many of the exhibits are outside, so check the forecast. We loved the sea lion feeding and the tunnel of the deep.
