Spend a day on the coast and admire the unusual play of waves at Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area. The highlight of the park is a natural rock bowl, the result of the collapse of two coastal caves. The bowl is partially open to the ocean, allowing waves to enter. During high surf, you can watch the waves violently swirl and foam inside the bowl. The coastline is lined with different rock formations and tide pools. In addition to wave-watching, the park offers opportunities for surfing, hiking, and picnicking. Whales migrate through this area and, in season, you can easily spot them from the beach. Easy parking. Easy to get to view. Was a little disappointed but I think it would have been better at high tide. The punch bowl didn’t get very full.

Maybe you need to see when the tide comes in. Or if there is a storm. Nice view of shoreline though.

The overlook is more of a stop over. It’s a very nice view here but it’s not very big. We saw a lot of surfers but we didn’t make it to the beach. It looked like the tide was in already so we couldn’t go into the actual bowl. But I could see how nice watching the sunset is from here. You should definitely check this place out! Very Nice!

Free roadside attraction. parking can be crowded for an RV on the weekend. Fairly easy in and out during the week. Check the tide table and go at high tide for the best show. 🍦 Friendliest candy shop, and least expensive ice cream on the Coast right near the parking lot. Also super friendly surf 🏄♂️ and skateboard 🛹 shop at the same location. 🌊

Nice view point from the top. Lots of dogs. LOTS of narrow stairs to get down to the beach to go into the bowl. The water was deep when we got there so sadly couldn't go over. Couldn't get to the other path supposedly able to access to get into it. No directions at all how to get to the beach or to get down into the bowl either. The beach was super nice even if very windy. Bathrooms at top of stairs were decent. On the beach many of the dogs were off leash.

Overview of the Pacific Ocean was wonderful worth stopping here. I wanted to use my drone to go inside the devils punch bowl but it’s posted ‘Drones are Prohibited’ here so didn’t. Obviously I don’t wanna cause Problem to Mother Nature.

I'm glad we stopped here on our way out of Newport! It was a really cool view with a nice little park area attached. Lots of outdoor seating, some cute shops nearby, lots of easy access parking, and seems to be a surfing hotspot too. Would recommend seeing this natural wonder.
