Newport Aquarium Reviews
We had an amazing time at the Newport aquarium. The shark display was probably my favorite but the kids enjoyed touching the sting rays and of course the penguin display. more »
Made a visit with my grandson's on New Years Eve and found it very informative and entertaining, especially the penguins. Worth the cost of admissions by itself. more »
Really wonderful place. Hard to find cause of road construction and Google kept sending me in circles and parking not so great but awesome place to visit. Little pricey but that's okay um sure it cost... more »
Season pass is a great value if you catch the buy 3 get 1 free deal. Thoroughly enjoyed the additional penguin and behind the scenes encounters. The Frog Bog play place for the little ones to burn energy coupled with a reasonable priced cafe makes this a great day trip with small children. Easily wheelchair and stroller accessible. Plenty of hands on activities and knowledgeable employees scattered throughout to answer questions. Open 365 days a year.
This is a very nice, mid-sized aquarium with a good layout that lets you walk through at your leisure. Some tanks have multiple viewpoints. You can get through and see everything in a couple hours, or you can take your time, sit and watch the shark rays, watch the penguins, play with the stingrays, read all the information plaques about the fish...and take five or six hours to get through. That's one of the nice things...it's laid out so you can go at the pace you want. There are lots of hands-on areas where the kids (and the kids at heart) can touch sea stars, crabs, rays, sharks, and several other varieties of sea life. The staff at these areas are nice and were able to answer all the questions we had. The only problem with these areas is that some of them are kind of deep and my daughter got her clothes pretty wet at a couple of them (we went right after New Year's and it was below zero outside...so getting wet was not something I was happy about). It is a bit pricey compared to other, similar entertainment (the Cincinnati Zoo is about 3/5 the price)...but for a rare treat, it's well worth it.
The Newport Aquarium was a great experience! The facility is very large, has a lot of great interactive exhibits (pet the stingrays etc.), and some very neat opportunities to walk through the fish tank tunnels. Although a little pricey, you can save some money by visiting during the holidays
This is a great place to go, especially in cold or rainy weather when you don't want to be outdoors with kids. I'm in here at least once a week with my daughter and any other kids I'm watching. They always have a lot of fun and I enjoy it too. There are several tunnels through the aquarium where the creatures are swimming over you. Those are usually our favorite spots. Petting the sharks is also a favorite. The aquarium individual and family passes are the way to go. Otherwise tickets are very overpriced. The way they have everything priced you're membership will pay for itself in 2 or 3 visits. Definitely something every stay-at-home dad and mom in Cincinnati should get.
The shark walk is a must try, at least once. If only for the ability to say that you walked on a rope above a tank of sharks. Sounds cool, right? It takes about two minutes and there will be people close behind you and close in front. But take your time and try to spot one while you pass over. The touch pool is also a big favorite of ours. Could easily spend an hour there but gotta share the space!
