  • The Riverside Church is located close to Columbia University in the Morningside heights neighborhood. Unfortunately we arrived shortly before the closure of the Church, so we could throw only a quick look inside. The staff offered us to come back tomorrow on the next, unfortunately that didn't fit into our schedule.

  • The Riverside Church is a church on Manhattan's upper west side and identifies non-denominational congregation alike from a used Avenue is located between Riverside Drive and the Claremont as well as between the 120th and 122nd Street. You thus bordering the neighborhood of Morningside heights and Harlem. The Church has an overwhelming architecture for American relations, to promote but also known for idiosyncratic social and political projects.

  • An impressive building situated among the 120st and 122nd street, along the Riverside drive, awaits you inside to reveal its splendour Gothic Italian style, with a nave and two aisles flanked by Windows with glass mosaics of the original 500 Flemings. Don't miss a small side chapel with a painting with an important and valuable addition to the rear frame, charming in a baptistery Chapel. Well worth the stop. Attention to air conditioning at most.

  • Thank you John D. Rockefeller for giving this beautiful church to New York City. It is a place of inspiration and beauty. I will miss seeing the loft spire from my penthouse terrace, but alas, I am leaving New York permanently after many years of living in the city. I walked across the street after visiting Grant's Tomb to visit the Riverside Church, nicely sited on Riverside Drive with a good Hudson River view. Nearby are the Manhattan School of Music, the Union Theological Seminary, Columbia University, Barnard College and Grant's Tomb. Inside is a work of art. It is quiet and peaceful place to reflect or worship, regardless of your religion.
  • I absolutely love Riverside Church. They really reach out into their community and make a difference. I'm so excited to intern there this summer. Definitely come join us on Sunday mornings!

  • If you go on an off peak day, the Riverside Church is a quiet place to sit and think and just be with yourself for a while. We visited on a Friday afternoon and the chancel was hauntingly quiet — it really takes you a world away from the noise and traffic of the city. The church has beautiful gothic architecture, 16th century Flemish stained glass windows, and carvings from French Caen stone. Even if you aren't particularly religious, I would say it's worth visiting just for its aesthetic beauty and the pleasure of walking around.
  • My review is completely based as a tourist to this church. First of all, if you are tired entering those church in Europe that requires an admission fee, you should definitely try this one. So relaxing, so welcoming, nothing is locked, and nobody is going to ask you what are you here for. Just enjoy a ten minutes divine moment. Secondly, the church has a school "attached to the building", students and staff here are super nice. They are so welcome that someone just enter for restroom and a sip of water is fine. Absolutely incredible place to give yourself a moment to think.

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
