  • Such an iconic setting. Well maintained and comfortable. Heed their warning. Arrive early, the lines to enter can be long.  more »
  • When traveling to NYC, we always take in a Broadway show. After 25 years, we decided to give The Met a try. We saw Swan Lake. The entire experience was absolutely amazing! Although we did get all doll...  more »

  • The MET always puts on extremely high end productions with fantastic staging, direction, and performances by all of the talented performers involved. I was blown away by the performance of The Exterminating Angel that I saw and hope to be back for many more. An important note (especially to those arriving just before curtain). The subtitles at The MET are on individual screens with purposefully narrow viewing angles so as to not distract other opera-goers. These screens are great and I much prefer them to the projected screens above the stage at many opera companies, however, there is a small button that you must press to activate the screen. Make sure you press that before the lights go off because it's hard to find once the do. Again, great system and even greater opera company. Highly recommend!
  • I love Metropolitan Opera. I love the building, the front with fountain and stairs with digital screen. There is a beautiful venue, impressive chandelier, amazing windows. staff is very friendly. It's very clean everywhere. Performances are incredible: opera as well as ballet. You might see good dressed beggars who beg for tickets for a performance. I've met those beggars twice. Highly recommend to visit this place
  • There is something lovely to look at the house throughout the theater. 2. The seats have subtitles.3. The staging is spectacular. 4.the orchestra is top-notch. 5. Watching the lights dim and that chandelier s retract is simply amazing...even if you know nothing about opera. Go at least once in your life.
  • Beautiful theater and a magnificent auditorium. I was in the family circle for my first opera and while it was definitely partial view, I had a very enjoyable experience. There is no food allowed in the auditorium so consume all food and beverage in the general areas. I am sharing pictures of the venue along with one of the menu the night I went. I do not know if their menu changes. I actually received the wrong sandwich but did not realize until I started consumption and there was not a lot of time to consume it after waiting in line. You may order food in advance for intermission, but I did not know about this option in advance. The dress code has drastically changed, however there is a mix in the crowd of fashionable, elegant and casual patrons. There is a restroom on almost each level and water fountains by the door. The gift shop is located next to the box office which I did not have the opportunity to check. Oh for those who do not make it back to their seat during intermission, they are not allowed back in until another intermission (posted signs)- there are warning bells so make your best judgement when preparing between the performance.
  • Beautiful venue, not the style we expected, but amazing in its own way. We’re not the type to buy drinks at a show but they had a small water fountain with paper cups provided and that was a very nice feature. The show (Norma) was wonderful, and each seat has its own translation screen with the option to select from a number of different languages. The gift shop was expansive and there were some reasonably priced items if you were just looking for a simple souvenir. The gift shop staff was incredibly friendly.
