  • Such an iconic setting. Well maintained and comfortable. Heed their warning. Arrive early, the lines to enter can be long.  more »
  • When traveling to NYC, we always take in a Broadway show. After 25 years, we decided to give The Met a try. We saw Swan Lake. The entire experience was absolutely amazing! Although we did get all doll...  more »

  • Tips for "regular people" like me. You can get cheap tickets in the "family circle" but be aware that this is really far back. Really. It hard to recognize who is who on stage. The upper boxes are another place where you can find inexpensive tickets. These are very fancy with a door entrance to each box. Be aware though that when they say partial view, they really mean partial view. In some of them you can't see half the stage. The performances are spectacular. The richness of the sets and talent of the performers is amazing.
  • Was here to see Whipped Cream which didn't disappoint! It was such a beautiful ballet. Whole performance was simply eye candy. Balcony seats I found better than orchestra seats from when I saw Romeo and Juliet in the winter. Would totally recommend Whipped Cream but it was only available for a short run. Theater is big but easy to find your seat. Everyone is helpful and nice about making sure everyone is seated before the show. Very clean too.
  • This is the best opera house that I've ever seen!!! The acoustic is jus perfect! The architecture is astonishing and everything seems just in the right place. The orchestra is wonderful and the singers are the best, not even telling about the ballet l, which is one of the best in the world! I simple love this place! And is really affordable. You can get a ticket in the family circle ( that has the best acoustic) as inexpensive as 30 bucks. It's much more worthy than going to a Broadway musical in my point of view.
  • A must see for the New York City Tourist. Easy to see right off of Columbus Drive. Great for pictures and to see a show. Clean facilities with a wheelchair accessible entrance. Public Restrooms. Pricey so being your credit cards. Nice staff. Reachable by public transportation. Restaurants near by. We will definitely be going back.
  • The "Met" is world renowned for its superior performances. It attracts the finest artistic talent in the country, and is on my "Top 5" venues for classical performance. Musicians, singers, costumes, production quality, are all first rate. The Met does tend to "play it safe" when it comes to the season repertoire. Lots of the standard works by Verdi, Puccinni, Mozart etc. I'm not saying it's a bad thing - it's actually a good thing. "Standard works" attract the audience and make opera accessible to more of us. The theater itself is deep burgundy and gold and it's cavernously large -- but it doesn't sacrifice acoustics. You are basically guaranteed a first class experience at The Met. Aside from the music, a really lavish opera is very visual so if you have never been to an opera because it's not your kind of thing, you must go to an opera and experience the orchestra and stage in real life with your eyes and ears. There are two (almost) floor to ceiling Chagall paintings that face out to Lincoln Center. If the sun is shining on the paintings, curtains automatically close to protect these masterpieces. And that's what the Met is - a masterpiece. But that's just me.
