My wife and I always enjoy a stop in this store just to see what's new. Fun place to pick up odd gifts for the kooks you call your friends. Plenty to look through. The size of the store (small and compact) makes it a little hard to move around when busy, be sure to help this matter by leaving your bags at the door. Staff is friendly and informative.
CRAZY expensive the size of a closet but it was so cool. I had listed visiting Obscura Antiques on my bucket list and finally this weekend we made it there and I am so happy I went. Putting aside the crazy amount of money for stuff and the tiny space it's housed it. They do have a lot of things to look through from human to animal bones, photos, clothing, creepy dolls, books, taxidermy animals and more. And the staff the redhead at the register was such a sweetheart seriously if you get a chance go check out this iconic place. You may not buy anything but it's well worth the trip just to say you went there.
Great store, and a wonderful staff! I recently came in seeking to buy a bat specimen or two. When I inquired with the shop attendant on duty (the lovely blonde from the show!!!) she told me they didn't have any in stock. It shocked me what she did next. She told me that bar taxidermy and lucite preserved samples were essentially never ethically sourced, and bats were often killed for display purposes! Instead of being offended that I asked for a taxidermy bat, the lovely shop girl took the time to explain to me the process that most bats go through before hitting the shelves. It was horrifying. She suggested some alternatives, watching bats, and donating to bat conservatories. I was just so incredibly impressed she took the time to have this lengthy conversation with me, and helped me understand better ways to show my love for bats, that didn't involve handlers killing them for profit. I cannot recommend this shop enough. The staff is lovely, and helpful. They are incredibly knowledgable and kind. I don't live in this area of the country, but every time I am, I will make sure to make a stop here, even if it is just to say hi.
Lots of people visit this lovely store because of the reality show "Oddities" on Discovery channel. Alway nice to see a unique store cool in its own way.
We received a warm welcome when we walked in . The two people that were working were very nice and informitive. The place was a little small but packed whit some super amazing things. I definitely will stop by again when j go back to the city ! :-)
