  • This is a ridiculous store. It is tiny, there isn't that much here that is interesting to see and the items for sale are way overpriced. This resembles a poorly run junk store more than an antique or ...  more »
  • We have seen every episode of "Oddities" on TV. We were in Manhattan for the first time and Obscura was the only thing my wife wanted to make it a point to see. Using Google Maps the store wasn't hard...  more »

  • Absolutely loved it!!! Super friendly!!! The adventure to get there made a 15min walk into a 1hr trek so we ended up getting there before close. They never rushed us! They let us browse and were totally helpful and friendly the entire time. I've seen other people complaining about the prices but I found the prices to be completely fair for what they are- antiques and oddities. Mike was the best part of the experience; he was so friendly and made us feel welcome. He even came outside and talked to us after they closed up shop giving us helpful advice for our trip in NYC. He is hands down the nicest person I've met here. I'm actually probably going to go back again before we leave!!! In conclusion, loved the shop, loved the staff/owner, and will definitely be buying from them again be it in store or online!
  • Always a fun excursion! Really cool, odd, funky things to buy and feast your eyes on! I don't think the TV show has changed anything and the new(ish) location is wonderful. Everyone who works there seems to really be interested in what you're looking for and will gladly help you find it., The owners, Evan and Mike, seem to genuinely want to hear what you have to say. A couple of years ago my daughter wanted to see if Mike knew what kind of animal bone she was wearing. Mike made his guess and got it wrong. Because she stumped him she was offered 15% off her purchase! I don't think this is done normally. I think he was intrigued by it and was tickled that he couldn't guess what it was. I highly recommend a visit if you're in the neighborhood. It's educational, it's creepy, and it's way too cool! If you don't see what you want, Evan and Mike will find it for you. This is a great time of year for a trip to Obscura!
  • Cool place to look around but barely has anything actually cool to sell now. Those "prints" are ridiculous. Why would I buy those expensive paper when I could find those pictures online and print them myself?
  • My wife and I always enjoy a stop in this store just to see what's new. Fun place to pick up odd gifts for the kooks you call your friends. Plenty to look through. The size of the store (small and compact) makes it a little hard to move around when busy, be sure to help this matter by leaving your bags at the door. Staff is friendly and informative.
  • CRAZY expensive the size of a closet but it was so cool. I had listed visiting Obscura Antiques on my bucket list and finally this weekend we made it there and I am so happy I went. Putting aside the crazy amount of money for stuff and the tiny space it's housed it. They do have a lot of things to look through from human to animal bones, photos, clothing, creepy dolls, books, taxidermy animals and more. And the staff the redhead at the register was such a sweetheart seriously if you get a chance go check out this iconic place. You may not buy anything but it's well worth the trip just to say you went there.
