Li-Lac Chocolates, New York City

3.9
Taste premium-quality chocolate molded into shapes like the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty at Li-Lac Chocolates, Manhattan’s oldest chocolate store. The store offers an extensive selection of chocolate treats, gourmet desserts, and truffles of both classic and modern flavors. All products are handmade, using original recipes and century-old techniques. The store was founded in 1923 by Greek immigrant George Demetrious, who introduced Greenwich Village to the French art of chocolate-making. • The best place to visit and grab some chocolate! This place is just wonderful, from the first step inside to just smell the chocolate! There is something for everyone!  more »
  • We bought the dark chocolate and it is divine. Costs a lot for us but largely due to the bad value of the pound vs the dollar. Still well worth it. One of the best chocolates I have had and trust me I...  more »

  • Lilac in the west village used to be great, they'd give you freebies, was always delicious. Since then, they've opened like 5 more stores and the chocolate is grocery store level and way overpriced. There are many better options, Lilac is bad now, it sucks but its true.
  • Bit pricey but very good chocolates, marzipan and sugar free almonds. Great for a gift.
  • Very disappointing. Don't get lured by the nice little shop. The chocolate is mediocre and they sell it for the price of gold. It's frustrating to eat poorly made chocolates when there are so many great chocolatiers in town.
  • Variety of Truffles chocolates, Smores bars, and Halloween candy.
  • They don't give u a key about what's in each chocolate.

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
