Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.

  • Grew up in this neighborhood. Love everything about this park. From the baseball fields, to the view of Brooklyn. Decent playgrounds and picnic areas.
  • Great park for running with rewarding views from the waterfront including the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge. Equally good for biking and leisurely evening strolls. It has playgrounds and exercise areas too.
  • Went for the first time to view fireworks and had a great experience. Surprisingly not too crowded by e Houston, with the exception of leaving once the fireworks ended.
  • Great park for walking or running. Beautiful views!
  • The west side's forgotten brother. A little rougher and rawer, but a good change of pace from the manicured parks on the other side.
