  • This was a nice little stop off for us as we were strolling around the LES with foodie stalls and benches on the site so we could rest awhile (or more importantly hubby and teens could sit while I bro...  more »
  • A nice little market and festival to get the day started. Had a lobster taco on my way through the loop. Very small, but enjoyable. A good way to start the day.  more »
  • It is only if you are passing through the area, is not a must but like fairs and markets to us and we know several on each trip. It runs fast.

  • cute little street fair, but VERY small (it's basically just a little paved side section to a playground), you can walk through and see everything in literally 5 minutes or less, unless you are seriously browsing. some food vendors, some clothing/jewelry/other stuff vendors. i like to stop in once in a while, the good thing about being small is it doesn't take up a lot of time.
  • Neat little 'sort of' street fair, with local vendors from the Lower East Side. Mostly knickknacks and artisanal oddities, there are a few good booths with some decent food.
  • A tiny flea market that is certainly no Brooklyn Flea but it does have its own charm. In addition to the stands in the small lot, there are typically a couple of traveling trucks parked outside that sell various wares as well. Don't expect to spend much time here due to the size but I do appreciate that there are tables and benches if you want to eat, sit or chill.
  • Cute little line up of purveyors featuring tasty num nums and hand made items of all sorts.
  • Beware, before making the trek be advised that they cancel events without notification -before you travel an hour (or 2) to get here make sure it's actually happening

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
