  • An Upper Westside institution that had been here for many years. They have a nice balance of flea market style kiosks and food options. The cafeteria for the O'Shea school complex is also open, so even in rainy weather there are some vendors that are indoors.
  • Came to the food truck festival. A lot of the trucks ran out of food early, I think they underestimated how many people would show up in the cold weather. Yankee Doodle Dandy's came prepared for the long haul and had great tasting food to boot. Saw some interesting wares at the flea market, even bought some stuff here and there.
  • There is a good mix of vendors and many themed events. The market is both outdoors and inside.
  • There was a good variety of items for sale, although from the website I thought there would be much more. It says "100s" but it seemed like there was only half of that. There were some inside which was nice when the wind started blowing outside. Some of the vendors were selling nice handmade crafts and others were selling yard-sale type wares. It was nice but not very impressive.
  • Not many vendors but the vendors that were there had a good assortment of goods both small and large. AND bartering at its best!

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
