Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.

  • Awesome little 'park' with some great food options. There are quite a few food trucks all serving unique options (Korean, Craft Beer, Arepas, Burgers, Desserts, etc.), so finding the ideal snack/meal is relatively easy. Gets busy at peak hours, where lines grow and seating gets tricky to find, but it's worth the wait. Only smallish downside is it can get really noisy, being that it's so close to 6th Ave, and relatively small. Honestly though, none of that would deter me from going back!
  • Too busy for me. This is not a real park from my point of view. I mean where it is located it is like heaven comparing to the madness across the street. But still, too crowded for a place where you want some quiet for a while. It is ok.
  • Great food festival going on, didn't eat here but the aromas from all the different participating restaurants was intoxicating
  • Greely Square is a neat, triangular pocket-park and piece of NY history tucked noisily in the angle between Broadway & 6th Ave, bounded by 32nd & 33rd Streets. It has some food vendors, a bunch of little cafe tables & chairs, and a statue of the eponymous Horace Greeley. He was the legendary editor of the (defunct) NY Tribune ("Go West, young man...")
  • Awesome place just outside the path station. So if you are coming from New Jersey to Times square New York then take path to 33rd street and you come out this garden
