  • I love to go to Grand Central Terminal, the architecture is amazing. The market has a great variety of food that is so fresh. There are also restaurants.  more »
  • Cool place to go and sit and people watch. Always good food available as well. We enjoyed our afternoon here.  more »
  • Surprisingly, the market at Grand Central has many types of food. The Market is near the middle of Gran Central Terminal off the Main Waiting Area. It is close to the subways and the commuter trains. ...  more »

  • Grand Central Market is a great place to get fresh fruits, veggies and they have a great meat selection. I like walking in and suddenly you smell the freshness of their flowers and fresh foods; no smell of trains or the beautifully clean NYC streets. When staying in the area for work, or fun, I recommend this place to get some fresh healthy groceries. And when you miss your connection at the station it is easy to walk in and get a fresh snack while you wait. Looking to freshen up your day, just walk in to the Grand Central Market.
  • In awe of the beauty the place! Upscale-urban market feel! Conveniently located inside Grand central with almost everything you could think of being sold there, from jewelry to party supplies to sushi and so much more; a shortcut passageway connecting Lexington Ave, the market and the 4, 5 and 6 trains if you want to cut out some of the street crowds and some walking if you're in a hurry! Spectacular!
  • Good produce and great food. Very pricey, but convienient for commuters going to grand central. The fruit is generally excellent, but 4x what you'd pay at Fairway. The bread is good and fresh and both places that sell it and the sushi is also very good.
  • It has everything from the most incredible cheese selections to prepared foods to go. Before heading home, you can grab a healthy salad, fresh fruit or dinner. I spent a good deal of time just walking in the market as it is so beautiful.
  • This place has good food, is beautiful is very convenient on your way back home if you commute through Grand Central. Special note for Murray's Cheese (a lot of variety for normal "real" cheeses).

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
