  • A slice of American history in our own back yard of NYC. Impressive marble building with beautiful eagles guarding entrance. Once inside you get to walk around two floors finding the bust of every important general of the era. The parks department has information area with pamphlets inside. Obviously Grant is entombed there with his wife in highly polished hardwood which is visible. Highly recommend you check out the final resting spot of President Grant.
  • Where is Grant buried? In Grant's Tomb, of course! This is a beautiful building and grounds, right by the river. The inside of the building reminds you of the Capitol in Washington, complete with beautifully painted reliefs and memorials to Grant and his family. Worth the visit if you're in the area!
  • Visited this week. Lovely memorial in a beautiful setting by Riverside Park. Very informative visitors centre as well. This was run by the National Parks Service & was really well run. Staff were exceptionally helpful. Highly recommended.
  • Really worth seeing this monument. Just read the biography og U. S. Grant by Ron Chernow so seeing Grant's tomb was a bonus to a wonderful book.
  • Not simply a tomb for the 18th President but also a testament to his beliefs in equality and respect for all citizens. The Junior Ranger program is on the easier side so it is very accessible for kids with little parental help. The program takes about an hour. Most answers can be found by exploring the tomb, but a few are hidden in the visitor center across the street. Since you need to get the booklet there best to start with the film and then get as many answers from small exhibits in there before going up to the tomb. Kids can turn in completed books to the Ranger stationed in the tomb for their badge.
