  • Grants Tomb is a beautiful memorial and it seems virtually no-one knows about it! It is certainly off the main tourist trail, when we went there was no-one else there! Combine the trip with Columbus U...  read more »
  • The tomb is quite huge It was closed when we were there. I would have liked to see the inside. There are columns and a rotunda.
  • I love history, so this was a must see while on the Hop On bus. It answers the age old question, "Who's buried in Grant's tomb?" His wife, also. Besides the caskets, there are small rooms with many fl...  read more »
  • Cool movie in the visitor center and the largest mausoleum in America make this tribute to one of America's greatest generals a memorable experience.
  • A beautiful civil war Era moment in riverside park. Was once one of the top tourist destinations in the US.
  • Come for the largest mausoleum in America, but stay for the mosaic benches that surround the structure. The benches were installed in 1972 as a community art project designed to bring people together, and to discourage graffiti on the tomb; it achieved both goals. They're bright, filled with detail, and are worth the trip. If you're coming from downtown, take a bike up the West Side bike path to Riverside Park and head up.
  • Much larger than you think it's going to be. Grant is entombed in NYC & not in Washington DC because NYC would allow Mrs. Grant to be entombed with her husband. Combine a visit here with all the other Morningside Heights attractions including Cathedral of St John the Divine, Columbia University & Riverside Church. Hamilton Grange is not that far.
  • Beautiful grounds make it an excellent place to relax or catch a concert as well as a fitting memorial for a giant of American History.
