  • I was on campus for a meeting and wandered around a bit to stretch my legs at a break in the meeting. As I had not done so before, I also looked into the chapel. This is definitely worth seeing, as th...  more »
  • Tree-lined Avenue called the College walk walking around, out from the gates of Amsterdam Avenue. I saw along the way, his right hand, ionic Colonnade lined Butler library. Largest library in the University of Colombia, it seems worth mentioning is the collection of the Humanities such as history, literature, philosophy, and religion.

  • An Ivy league education in your own backyard. One of the top 10 schools worldwide. If you have what it takes to get in, make sure you network with everyone possible. Therein lies the true value of Columbia and others in its category. What you learn in the classrooms is top notch. Research among the finest.
  • Quiet over the Christmas break but nonetheless a great sight to see. Just being in a university of it's statue was impressive enough but for them to leave building open to the public was a real treat. There wasn't much around in the way of food, or help getting around but the signage is more then enough.
  • All the lawyers in Las Vegas that graduated from Columbia University were excited to see that my son visited their university when he went to New York City. Columbia has such a beautiful campus. My wife loves the diners. The students are so lucky to achieve such success before and after going to Columbia. Just living near the campus is a fabulous experience.

  • An Ivy League school in arguably the best city in the world. If you're lucky enough to get accepted, you should go here. The campus is in the upper west side of Manhattan and looks pretty all year round.

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
