  • Stumbled upon this park by accident. In the city for business and was doing a morning walk on the Upper Eastside. I saw the entrance off of East End Ave and went to take a look. The park follows the E...  more »
  • This fairly large space is just south of Gracie Mansion and is one of the few public parks directly on the East River. It is largely a neighborhood park; very few city visitors go there or even know a...  more »

  • A quaint little park quite close to the Mayor's house! (He never invites us in, Ha! Ha!) The park leads up a short but rolling hill to the walkway that sits above the FDR Highway. Great views of the East River (did you know it's not really a river but is an estuary?) and the northern end of Roosevelt Island. A great park for sitting, reading, people watching, and sun bathing. Worth the visit.
  • My favorite park on the east side, has the most beautiful view of the river and the bridges (can see almost all the way downtown!) A great place for dogs with multiple dog parks and large roaming lawns. Really a beautiful secret spot! And BONUS! It’s never crowded!
  • Beautiful views of Hudson river and surrounding city. I recommend going at night. The views of reflected light from the river are spectacular! And I felt very safe there!
  • Love that this exists in NYC. Stumbled upon it on a walk and have been back a few times. Very pretty and lots of room to walk and or run or relax and look at the water. Dogs and people everywhere but still very peaceful. The only place in NYC to see a butterfly and a bee on the same flower!
  • When it comes to talk about parks in New York there are not many as this one is. Located at the very edge of island coming true East river and above highway. Just being there gives u some kind of serenity and peace even do it is so urban and at the beginning or at the end of the most populated area in New York - Upper East Side.

Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.
