Where to stay in New York City

The first step to finding accommodations in New York City is finding the right neighborhood. Manhattan, where most visitors end up, offers some of the most expensive rooms in the world, though there are lower-budget options, such as hostels with shared restrooms. Reduce your costs by basing yourself in one of the outer boroughs, but beware of low-end motels where you may end up sharing the premises with hourly customers. Alternatively, stay along the New Jersey shore, offering all the major chain hotels at considerably lower prices than their Manhattan equivalents.

  • There's something for everyone at Bloomingdale's in midtown NYC. It is one of the last remaining department stores that maintains the atmosphere of the great department stores of the past. The store is well maintained, and feels luxurious without being pretentious. There are many friendly and knowledgeable associates to assist you, yet they're not pushy. From the inexpensive to high-end designers, Bloomingdale's always offers a range of options to suit most budgets. Plus, with a vast array of departments, you're bound to find the category you're looking for. And, their "Loyallist" rewards program is second-to-none, offering regular opportunities to earn gift cards and participate in special sales.
  • The most outstanding store in NYC and when you step outside the store with all those shopping bags. A young lady gets hit by a Cab, her cellphone splits from it cover, all is good, it still works. We help her to her feet, she says she's ok, I say,"Did you get the licences plate #of the can. She says,"No", I say 6 months from now when the weather changes your knees &back will hurt. Here is the plate #.
  • They could really use more places to sit, and it's very difficult to find a staff member to help which would be nice because much of the inventory is disorganized. But it is a bit of NYC history and there is a good bakery on the first floor. You can also get directly to the 59th street metro station from the basement.
  • I mean it's Bloomingdales. What's not to love? The store is fabulous, the selection of designers is impeccable. The staff is informative and helpful.
  • Great selection of so many designers in one place! Great sales and reward dollars for loyal shoppers!
