  • The Castle situated right in the middle of Central Park, near the Delacorte Theater, it is a fortress built in 1870 and allows a good view of the entire Park. Just enter the 79th Street Transverse and walk to see the imponent construction. The nearest subway station is the 86th St, the East side, and the 81 St West side.

  • This castle is a fun break from walking in the park. Nice view of the water and fun for kids to climb. It's a nice walk over from the Museum of Nat History. There's a cute little gift shop inside and ...  read more »
  • Designed as an observatory the castle is a great spot to pictures of the park from many angles. It does get busy so go with patience.
  • One of the many fun attractions to Central Park. I also make a stop by this castle when I find myself in the park. Plenty of wildlife, and lots of flowers on the walk to the castle. Great view of the fields that lay just North of the castle.
  • Really nice castle! Being in the castle made me felt like being in a medieval movie. The best of all, the view from the terrace is astonishing! The stairs are quite narrow, so you will need to take turn with those coming from the other direction.
  • It's a nice little castle and I think children would especially like it. It's not a real castle but it is shaped like one. It's a great view of the reservoir and the New York City skyline. It's a little bit hard getting up and down the height on stairs when others are trying to get up and down. There is donations to get it so can I find out if you do not have to pay. This is a rare occurrence.
  • Great views of the Great Lawn from the top, definitely worth visiting. Staircases are narrow though, so may not be suitable for everyone
  • Who would have thought that right in the middle of Central Park is a castle! But it’s not really a castle per se, but promises a beautiful day out for visitors. It’s one of the highest peak within Central Park and serves as an excellent lookout point. This is the view of the Great Lawn from the perch at Belvedere Caste in Central Park New York. According to the guide, Belvedere means “beautiful view” in Italian. I couldn’t agree more. With a view like this, I wonder how many people have said “I love you”, or “Will you marry me”, or simply sing “How does she knows, you love her” right at this point. Lean against the wall and pretend to be princes and princesses for a day.
