  • I’m giving this establishment 4 stars based on the San Gennaro hero. The description on the menu sounded decent, but the flavor of everything combined on the hero was a welcomed surprise. We actually ...  more »
  • Heard it is one of the oldest cheese shops in the US. Had some very good mozzarella sticks. Located in Little Italy and stopped in during our walk around NYC.  more »
  • Excellent Deli in Little Italy. You say that is the House of cheese more ancient of the United States, that not it I can confirm, but if that is worthwhile to buy cheese to eat. De lo mas rico!

  • Love this place. I have been going here for years. As an Italian who grew up having the best food, this place is where you get your finest ingredients.
  • Zero stars would be most appropriate since I didn’t actually shop here but I had an unbelievably rude experience with one of the employees/owners there last night (20JAN2018). After enjoying some desserts at Ferrera I stopped in front on this place to snap a photo down Mulberry. I was using a tripod so I stepped into the little space at the corner between his carts so as not to black the walking path. This is at 10PM, these carts are closed, and there is no one out there. Then out of no where some guy comes up to me and intentionally puts his hand in front of my lens actually hitting the camera. He says nothing and just walks by. I had no idea who he was. When I said “thanks, that was very helpful” he came back and started yelling at me and my wife saying the he owns the tiny patch of pavement between the carts and I have to get off his property. It was completely insane. As I left I saw him behind the counter in this place. If he had a problem he should have politely said something. I would have moved. His actions were completely unacceptable and psychotic. We are trying to have a society here. I uploaded a map screenshot I show the tiny patch of sidewalk (not enclosed by their carts) in question. It’s the light colored area within the green circle.
  • Alleva is an institution as it is one of the oldest cheese shops in America. Their sandwiches are massive and insanely delicous. The staff is helpful and friendly and even offered to give me an umbrella when it started to rain. If you are looking for lunch with enough leftovers to eat for dinner, this is the place.
  • The highlight of my trip to China town and little Italy was this cheese shop! There is a very jolly man there that engaged my conversation and sent me up the street to a locally known Chinese women who has a tiny hole in the wall where she and another lady make sausage dumplings at 5 for $1.25, except both times I ordered them she gave me 7! The cheese man makes killer mozzarella sticks!
  • Oldest cheese shop in the USA, they make the BEST SMOKED MOZZARELLA anywhere. Friendly staff, part owner (see him there often) Tony Danza.
