42nd Street is a major crosstown street in the New York City borough of Manhattan, known for its theaters, especially near the intersection with Broadway at Times Square. It is also the name of the region of the theater district (and, at times, the red-light district) near that intersection. The street has held a special place in New Yorkers' imaginations since at least the turn of the 20th century, and is the site of some of New York's best known buildings, including (east to west) the United Nations, Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal, Times Square and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.HistoryEarly historyDuring the American Revolutionary War, a cornfield near the present location of the New York Public Library at 42nd Street was where General George Washington angrily attempted to rally his troops after the British landing at Kip's Bay, which scattered many of the American militiamen. Washington's attempt put him in danger of being captured, and his officers had to persuade him to leave. The rout eventuially subsided into an orderly retreat.

  • Among the most popular roads and also known among locals, the 42 develops in Midtown and, between skyscrapers, chaotic and constant foot traffic and automotive, will lead to the discovery of some buildings such as the Grand Terminal Station, the United Nations, the Chrysler Building and others but has other special features. It is one of the tourist buses unprofessional, but frankly were other areas of the city that have me excited ...

  • 42 Street is quite busy, both in the East as West. Many stores, tourist attractions, restaurants, theatres, anyway, a little bit of everything.

  • One of the Theater Row sites - always good seats. Shows, well you should know which group is putting on the show - some are great - some really stink. Afterwards, go next door to the Theater Row Diner - get a good meal for 10% off with your stubbs.
  • Went there to see Figaro and the seating is comfortable. All and all its a great place, never feel too far or too close.
  • Cramped seating, small theater. The good thing is that no matter where you sit, you can see. Also wheel chair accessible.
