Historic Walking Area
42nd Street is a major crosstown street in the New York City borough of Manhattan, known for its theaters, especially near the intersection with Broadway at Times Square. It is also the name of the region of the theater district (and, at times, the red-light district) near that intersection. The street has held a special place in New Yorkers' imaginations since at least the turn of the 20th century, and is the site of some of New York's best known buildings, including (east to west) the United Nations, Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal, Times Square and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.HistoryEarly historyDuring the American Revolutionary War, a cornfield near the present location of the New York Public Library at 42nd Street was where General George Washington angrily attempted to rally his troops after the British landing at Kip's Bay, which scattered many of the American militiamen. Washington's attempt put him in danger of being captured, and his officers had to persuade him to leave. The rout eventually subsided into an orderly retreat.

  • I chose 42nd Street Photo for their great prices -- the best I found on the web. (I've purchased a Canon body and two lenses from them, as well as an assortment of accessories.) I was also very pleased with their customer service. The phone sales person was not only very knowledgeable, but also very responsive when there was a glitch in one of my orders. I would definitely purchase from them again.
  • 42nd Street Photo is so helpful, has the best prices, and gets you your equipment very fast. I ordered a Canon 6d from them a few months ago and was overjoyed with the customer service and speed of delivery. Great camera company - I go to them with all of my camera needs. Thank you so much for your great work!
  • Best Experience with this group. I always try to support smaller businesses vs larger chain stores. They shipped the camera out very quickly with no issues at all. I have recommended them to other folks looking to buy cameras!
  • Suggested by my friend who told me that the lens I wanted to buy was about $50 cheaper than the best price at Amazon. After I placed the order, its sales called me and made some suggestion on the accessories I could buy and shipped me the accessories better than what listed on the page without asking me paying the extra. While I receive the hood in a wrong model, they reshipped the correct one immediately. Very good services that I recommend.
  • I ordered a 70 300 mm canon lens and filters to fit lens. I could not afford to order the higher up lens. I seen this lens in Best buy and ended up buying from 42nd street photo a $100 dollars cheaper. The customer service was great. The lens was well worth the price.
