  • One of our favorite stops in New Ulm. Very fascinating history and museum. Great little gift shop and beautiful countryside and drive.  more »
  • Being part of the MN History Museum, they charge $6/person to go into a one room "store." Even though we made the drive out, it wasn't worth the extra expense so we left.  more »
  • Its a short drive away from New Ulm, but a cute little old timey store set up along the river like it was in the "olden days". They have a little gift shop too. The kids got a kick out of it.  more »

  • Don't miss this hidden gem. Old post office / general store filled with items that were sold back in the day. Gift store has some unusual and interesting items. Books, maps and old fashioned candy.
  • A nicely maintained General Store from the 1870s. The staff dress in period clothing and are very knowledgable about the local history and the period accurate goods featured in the store. It's a small piece of history that was fun to stumble upon. There is a small gift shop.
  • Before making a special trip to see the Harkin Store, there is a per person fee involved to get in. I saw a sign for the store when visiting a local state park. I made the trip over to see what the store had to offer. When I got to the top of the steps, a gentleman had stopped me and said there was a fee to get in. I didn't have cash on me, but I doubt I would have paid the fee anyway. I was quite sad to see about 12 - 15 other people forced to turn around due to the cost and/or not having cash. Even though it was out of my way, the scenic byway drive was enjoyable.
  • a nice scenic road to travel all year long to get to the store. many original items on display and a gift shop too.
  • Wonderful store and volunteers working there!
