  • A great brewery full of great people making great beer on great grounds. The tour was interesting and an excellent value (kids 13 and under are free and get root beer samples in the taproom). There's lots to see in the museum but my favorite part was wandering the grounds and biergarten which had a band playing as part of their summer music series. The employees went out of their way to make sure my family had a good time. I'm looking forward to the next time we find ourselves in the area!
  • Great tour. There is a ton of history here and you can tell they take great pride in it. They have nicely preserved some of the old unused brewing areas for the tour. Unfortunately, you don't get to see much of the modern equipment, but I'd still come back in the summer for the beer garden. I just wish I liked lagers more.
  • Awesome brewery tour with great information about the history of Schell's! The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and all of the staff is very friendly and helpful! We will definitely be going back for another tour and beer tasting!
  • We were camping for the weekend near New Ulm and decided to go into town and see what there was to do. My dad wanted to check out this brewery and it ended up being a very fun stop. They give you a tour of the grounds and explain a lot of the history behind the brewery. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, well spoken and easy to hear. He did a great job. We all really enjoyed the tour of the copper kettle and the old section of the brewery. This was very neat and it's cool to see how old this brewery is. The last thing on the tour was a taste-testing of some of their beers. After that you got to pick a beer to have a full glass of and wander around the garden drinking it. I personally was a bit disappointed in the beers (absolutely no dark beers were included). My mom (who is a celiac) did not have any options for gluten free beer, but they did offer her and my 10 year old son rootbeer (they make 1919 rootbeer). Overall it was a fun way to spend a couple hours. It was pretty hot the day we were there and you do have to stand in the sun quite a bit on the tour, so I would recommend going on a cooler day. Make sure you don't bring a camper down here, the parking lot is pretty small and park of the road in is single lane.
  • This place was really great to see. The tour was very informative on the history of the brewery and it was great to walk around the garden and brewery grounds. The tasting was great but would have been better if they had the Noble star beers. Other than that it was great.
