Part of New Orleans' biggest and oldest museum of fine art, The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA contains works by sculptors from around the world donated by two notable arts patrons. Situated behind the museum's main building, the 2 hectare (5 acre) landscaped garden exhibits about 60 sculptures, scattered among the verdant vegetation that includes oaks, magnolias, pines, and camellias. Follow the walking trails to see works by Henry Moore, Fernando Botero, Antoine Bourdelle, and Gaston Lachaise. If you'd like a free audio tour for your mobile device, drop by the information window at the garden entrance. Learn about the history of the garden by picking up one of two illustrated publications available at the museum shop.   • We were amazed at the amount of sculptures located in the park, but they weren't so close as to impose on the other ones. There are some really interesting pieces, even for the non-arty type! And it's...  more »
  • went there because we had already walked to the park. I guess if you're into that kinda stuff. Defintely wouldn't bother unless you're a serious sculpture buff. 
  • Good for a casual stroll in the park. It's in the City Part right next to the museum of art but is free by itself.
