Where to stay in New Orleans

Though you can walk to most tourist attractions in New Orleans from a hotel in the central business district, remember that many other parts of town feature less expensive and equally comfortable accommodations. Smaller hotels and private guesthouses in quiet residential neighborhoods offer not only good local food and spacious rooms, but can also allow you to explore the city's culture away from overwhelming tourist crowds. To reduce your carbon footprint during your stay, consider one of French Quarter's many green or eco-friendly hotels.

  • This is right in the heart of the French Quarter and as much walking as we did this was always right there to take a nice relaxing break sitting on a bench and people watching.  more »
  • This is a great little spot to relax, grab a drink or some lunch and listen to some great live music and jazz.  more »
  • We stopped here every afternoon for a mid-afternoon snack, drink and rest. Great music with fans that keep it cool and comfortable. Even in the mid-afternoon in the heat of the day, it was pleasant an...  more »

  • It is a very nice jazz place. They have live jazz which is great. The food and drinks are good too. They also have a coffee shop inside. The seating area is open. It is in the middle of bourbon street so you will not miss it if you visit French quarters.
  • Great spot to stop and relax with good food and music when you're tired of the street - although I can't really recommend the strawberry beer. But the seafood combo platter is great to share with friends.
  • A good place to chill out, listen to jazz, and grab a bite. Food served is simple, fresh and good. Bar has a good selection of beer and local mixed drinks. Plenty of shade and entertainment. A good rest stop to recharge after site seeing.
  • Cool spot for an afternoon drink. Music can get loud at times. Decent food menu, mostly cocktails and beignets. Think outdoor seating and a nice chilled drink.
  • Love love love it here! They have a local band playing every night. It is connected to a bakery, but you do not have to order from them. Some nights it is byo and some nights they tell you no outside drinks.
