Where to stay in New Orleans

Though you can walk to most tourist attractions in New Orleans from a hotel in the central business district, remember that many other parts of town feature less expensive and equally comfortable accommodations. Smaller hotels and private guesthouses in quiet residential neighborhoods offer not only good local food and spacious rooms, but can also allow you to explore the city's culture away from overwhelming tourist crowds. To reduce your carbon footprint during your stay, consider one of French Quarter's many green or eco-friendly hotels.

  • I decided to investigate the allure of wearing a hat. The young gentleman that assisted me is a 5th generation family member at this amazing store. Cedric Meyer, he was extremely courteous and helpful...  more »
  • My husband loves his Stetsons, and Mr. Meyer showed him a new one that he had to have. This is an authentic hatter, and an experience that no one with a passion for hats should miss.  more »
  • Meyer the Hatter is from a bygone era when every major city in the U.S. had one or more hat stores. Meyer the Hatter has been within the same block of St. Charles Street in New Orleans for over a cent...  more »

  • Some colleagues and I were in NOLA for work, and had a garden party event we wanted to hat-up for. I have a reasonable hat collection as it is, but nothing appropriate for garden attire. The staff here was extremely helpful, and found me a hat that fit event and would travel well back to Michigan with me and not be out of place. I think it fun that both of my favorite hat shops have "the Hatter" in the name now.
  • Been buying my hats here for a long time, love this place, and my new straw hat.
  • Family owned and operated; a New Orleans tradition. I walked out of there with the hat I wanted within 15th minutes; perfect!
  • Great family led service. They are all very knowledgeable and have great hats.
  • We hsd great fun trying on hats and kibbutzing with the owner!
