  • I really wanted to like this place I really really did. But, I just...didn't. The pretentiousness of the hipster crowed reeked through the prettily lit market to where all I wanted to do was leave, no...  more »
  • If you are looking to sample the local art of the Marigny, then Frenchman Art Market is for you. There is something for everyone and the atmosphere is relaxing. I highly recommend a stroll through.  more »
  • What a nice surprise! Several dozen local artists had their work displayed under cafe lights. It was charming and a nice way to spend some time. Then we headed for some jazz, beer, and snacks across t...  more »

  • I had one of my best New Orleans experiences at the Frenchmen Art Market. My husband and I found the artists very approachable and happy to discuss their work. One photographer spent a long time talking with us when we asked about the subjects in some of his photos - we were so enchanted by his photographs that we bought several. A very laid back, cool vibe where you can browse, ask questions, be curious, and appreciate what the local artist community has to offer.
  • Came here at night, an interesting assortment of handmade art and jewelry. A lot of the items were a bit pricier than I'd expect. Well worth a nighttime stroll though.
  • I'm definitely not an art connoisseur. However, if you're interested at looking at some local artists work, it's worth the time to check it out. I bought a few pieces that I love.
  • Want a romantic evening? Stroll down here under the twinkling lights, peruse local art, Instagram to your hearts content, and when you leave, take in anything Frenchmen has to offer.
  • The vendors are awesome. Cool place to meet hard working real New Orleans artists.

Where to stay in New Orleans

Though you can walk to most tourist attractions in New Orleans from a hotel in the central business district, remember that many other parts of town feature less expensive and equally comfortable accommodations. Smaller hotels and private guesthouses in quiet residential neighborhoods offer not only good local food and spacious rooms, but can also allow you to explore the city's culture away from overwhelming tourist crowds. To reduce your carbon footprint during your stay, consider one of French Quarter's many green or eco-friendly hotels.
