  • The French Impressionist Degas House dates back to 1852 and today is a B & B and Museum so if you want to live the experience of living in house of Degas here you got this great economic choice is a bit far from everything in an avenue with beautiful mansions of the 19th CENTURY. His mother was a native of New Orleans. In 1872, he lived with his brother René in the House which now houses the Museum that was his uncle's House at the time. In 1873 Degas returned to Paris.

  • We were the only people on the tour, conducted by a Degas relative who was informative and enthusiastic. He was only in New Orleans for less than a year, but the story of his time in the city and what...  more »
  • For lovers of history of art and of DEGAS in particular. The House contains only paintings of DEGAS prints but it was not the purpose of the visit. For this he must go into a museum. The presence of one of the descendant of the family was very interesting to understand the family history of this beautiful House. The video is too long. However breakfast was a very nice experience for a french. In the kitchen and service staff are really worth to be met. It was very good. Thanks for this delicious moment

  • Checked this place out as a wedding venue. It's beautiful and the staff was so helpful! We ultimately decided to go somewhere else because of the size of the wedding but I wish I could have done it here!!
  • Stayed at the Bancroft house during jazzfest 2016 and it was a nightmare. For charging $1,600 a night and spending $8,500 dollars the place was completely trashed when we walked in. The pool was absolutely disgusting the grill didn't work at all. When we called the staff, it took them day 4 days to clean the pool which was a big reason for renting the home in the first place. So we only were able to use it for the last day of the stay which was very disappointing for the kids. Also they wouldn't come fix the Internet just told us "well on the Airbnb it says it has working Internet" they wouldn't even reimburse for any part of the stay for falsely advertising there home. I also found the place on Airbnb and they urged me to book it through there website and NOT use Airbnb so I couldn't give them feedback or have the insurance of terrible service getting some money back. Will be reporting them to better business bureau and to air bnb for advertising on there site, but conning people to use there site instead so they don't have to pay Airbnb there portion of deal and have to deal with air bnb standards. Since I was SCAMMED and booked with there site I pretty much spent $8,500 to stay at a motel 6 quality place for five days place is a complete joke....
  • Interesting telling of the story of Degas in NOLA. Pam, the tour guide knew her stuff. Worth a visit especially if you've had enough of the French Quarter. Pam extra time to have fried chicken at Wille Mae's which is just four blocks away.
  • Great people, breakfast, and neighborhood. Close to the French Quarter. Great experience
  • I hosted my wife's 40th birthday party last year with the Degas House, and I'm still amazed at how awesome the experience was! The property itself is not only steeped in rich history but also beautiful and well-kept. I hired a band (Leah Rucker - awesome singer) and they were readily accommodated by the Degas House staff. We held the party outside, and our photographer (Jennifer Zdon - she rocks) captured absolutely amazing shots throughout the party. The outdoor lighting is perfect, and there was plenty of parking near the event. I especially want to thank Flora for taking the stress out of planning this event, as she guided me though the choices for headcount, food, drink and layout. She was very patient with me, and I really appreciate that. I would absolutely recommend the Degas House to anyone seeking an unforgettably awesome experience with their loved ones.
