It's a small fair with some Christmas lights and decorations. It was neat to see but don't know if we'll ever go back TBH. It was expensive and so crowd the kids didn't want to do the rides. I've seen...  more »

Quite big and varied. Beautiful gardens shone through at night. Walkways were made comfortable with mats of some kind. Delightful for adults and children. Huge outdoor miniature train display. Could s...  more »

Absolutely the worst. Went right before Christmas. There was no parking near the entrance. Once we got in it was so crowded I couldn't think straight. The christmas light display they had was deplorable. The food line took +20 minutes to get 2 slices of pizza and it was overpriced as hell. Then there wasn't really anywhere to sit and eat the food. The train is a joke because the line wraps around the entire place. Would not recommend this place. Stay home.

If you do nothing else for the winter holidays, make this part of your to do list. Get there early to the the train around the park, but enjoy the beautiful handcrafted light work of our locals!

I love Celebration in the Oaks. Some people give it low ratings, and I think they're missing the point. This is a classic annual must-do event for our family. The atmosphere is positive and safe and there's plenty of things to see and do. If you're looking for the most dazzeling, shock-and-awe light display in the South, this definitely is not it. Rather, it's a fun local tradition that you can count on enjoying every year.

So not worth it. Way overpriced for what you get. The lights are very minimum and the lights that are there have nothing to do with Christmas! The music was very unnecessary as it could have been holiday music. Glad we got the train so we could actually see the lights. Highly disappointed. Do not waste your hard earned money.

Not worth the money. Last time I went was pre Katrina. There is no driving tour. The lights are underwhelming at best. No where near where they used to be. It now seems like a run down fair that put up some holiday lights. It missed the mark as the New Orleans holiday event it once was. Whomever designed this event should be terminated for having no imagination whatsoever.

Where to stay in New Orleans

Though you can walk to most tourist attractions in New Orleans from a hotel in the central business district, remember that many other parts of town feature less expensive and equally comfortable accommodations. Smaller hotels and private guesthouses in quiet residential neighborhoods offer not only good local food and spacious rooms, but can also allow you to explore the city's culture away from overwhelming tourist crowds. To reduce your carbon footprint during your stay, consider one of French Quarter's many green or eco-friendly hotels.
