  • I drove down La Bajada today in my stock Jeep Cherokee. With oversized tires I have maybe 3-4 inches of extra ground clearance. I needed every bit of it but it was enough. Once you begin the descent....  more

  • La Bajada Hill, It's great to know that there are still places like this where you can see for miles and miles. The original route 66 also ran up the hill to Santa Fe New Mexico. The cliffs are a local area for hangliders. Great hiking in the area as well but a local guide is advised as the land is not for your fair weather hiker bring hat, boots, suntan lotion, water as there is no facilities within miles. Because of the difficult terrain the petroglyphs are saved from vandals and are in excellent condition.
