  • Has many great artifacts and cool interactives. Also, many things upstairs can be touched and held. It is a very good museum to learn about thr history of New Madrid and the area around it.
  • Pretty good for a local museum. Interprets the earthquake and civil war events.
  • Friendly knowledgeable owner. Combined with river overlook and ice cream shop two blocks down, a worthwhile roadside diversion.
  • The Civil War artifacts are amazing as is the original saloon bar from days of old. A real gem and a true treasure to behold. Don't miss the New Madrid Historical Museum even if you're just passing through. And pick up a few souvenirs of Southeast Missouri and the site of the great Earthquake of 1811-1812.
  • Surprising collection of items from history of southeast Missouri and New Madrid. Not recreations or images, but real items from Native American pottery, toys, and gambling aids, through Civil War weapons and uniforms, to the logging era, and modern farming. Local families and businesses donated keepsakes, and hunters and farmers have brought in items they've stumbled over in the fields and forests.
