State Park
Sibley State Park is a Minnesota state park near New London, on the shores of Lake Andrew. It is named for Henry Hastings Sibley, the first governor of the state. A city park in Mankato, Minnesota is also named for Sibley. The rustic style stone structures in the park were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1935 and 1938. These structures are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The layout of the park was a very functional example of master planning because it reduced congestion and overcrowding for swimmers, picnickers, and campers. It is rumored that a secret cache of memorabilia and other various items are buried underground in one of the park areas near the beach.

  • We have attended a few activities at the nature center. We all had a great time.
  • Nice campgrounds and lake hikeing trails try out park.
  • I have been going to Sibley State Park for many years and love the park but recently had a horrible experience. The park rangers and other camping guests were rude and inconsiderate. We were having a good time till the park ranger came to tell us to quite down in which we were and I agreed that we were loud and it was a Thursday night. A couple of nights later on a Saturday night we moved a way from the sight next to us so we were not as annoying and the ranger had yelled at us for being to loud when we have been louder there before and that night it was a Saturday.
  • Good hiking trails and some nice views. Great to get out late in the season to enjoy a mostly empty park!
