My husband is a rail fan so riding each and every train we come across is a must. I found this tourist train and booked the longer 2.5 hour ride with the special Steam engine. My husband was ecstatic ...  more »

Very nicely restored American 4-4-0 steam locomotive with passenger car, passenger-mail car and an open air excursion car. Wonderful volunteer staff and re-inactors make the train ride to and from the Hanover Junction a great trip. Really enjoyed seeing the railroad fans and their kids at the various crossings.

Steam into History AKA Northern Central Railway or New Freedom Rail, is a fun stop for people of all ages. Extremely nice gift shop. Good layout and decorated neatly. Many affordable items. Very clean bathroom. Model train room in the back. Went for the mock jesse james robbery event. The robbery cast is very funny and interacts with all the riders. The gun shots can be loud for young kids. Cold drinks, local chocolates, and vintage candy available at the gift shop to be enjoyed while waiting for the train. Only a black away from the train museum and sandwich shop (highly recommend getting lunch there). Bottled water sold on the train for $3

Child loved the tree ride with Santa. The steam engine is authentic and beautiful.

Took a train ride out to a Christmas tree farm. The ride was enjoyable and they gave some interesting historical info during the course of the trip. Santa Claus showed up and entertained the kids while a couple of musicians played tunes for the passengers.

We went on the train while on vacation. It's out there a bit, but well worth the trip. If you go on a later train ride and have kids, bring snacks! Not many places to eat and the close shop early. Anyone complaining that the train is too noisy is a moron. It's an open air train, common you nitwit!!! We took our 2 year old and 10 month old on it, our 2 year old LOVED the train ride, our 10 month old slept through most of it. If you go during the summer months, bring water as it gets quite warm. I strongly recommend any train lover or history buff go on this train ride or even anyone with kids, it's a great ride!
