  • Cave closed due to injury of one of the operators. Although another guy was there running the gift shop they were not bringing people down into the cave. I suggested maybe someone could run out to cha...  read more »
  • The billboard on 385 said open day and evening, so we drove all the way there on windy dirt roads, the last mile is extremely narrow and steep. We got there at 5:01, and were told that they are closed...  read more »
  • I visited both National Park Service caves in the Black Hills plus this one and Rushmore. This one has the best formations by far. If you have children this is a big plus. Also, a big plus to many peo...  read more »
  • The staff is super nice and very knowledgeable. The tour takes a minimum of 45 minutes so PLEASE get there before 6pm! (Just a little FYI for the other reviews grumbling about not getting to go on a tour. When it says "Close at 7pm"... It doesn't mean you should expect an hour long tour at the last minute when they are ready to shut down for the night.) There were about 126 steps down into the cave and the guide said at one point we were about 300 feet under the surface. I am Claustrophobic and this was my first cave tour ever. I had a little trouble since it gets kind of tight in areas but it was a pretty cool experience and I'm glad I did it. There are a ton of fun photo ops around the property and the outside of the property has been kept up well and is very cute! I'm not sure this is the best thing to take little kids to though. My nieces are under 5 years old. They loved the outside but we're not fans of being inside a cave. Make sure your children are into caves or a bit older for this one and have used the bathroom before taking the tour! They also had a cool gift shop. We found a lot of great stuff there.
  • This is a great little side trip. Neat cave! Funny guides. The climb out of the cave could be taxing on someone with knee issues or just out of shape. 120 odd stair steps straight up.
  • It's a neat cave to explore, not a very long tour how ever thee stairs are strenuous. The tour guidr was a young kid who seemed to know just enough about the cave. Its a constant 47 degrees in the cave so bring a jacket.
  • Great staff and a cave with natural beauty and a unique history. A trip back to yesteryear.
  • Pretty amazing views of stalactites and stalagmites and some other really interesting growing cave formations. My favorite part was the "cave bacon". It gets a little repetitive but overall the 40 minute guided tour was well worth it.
