Admire The Natural Bridge of Virginia, a tree-lined natural rock arch spanning a gorge in the mountainous terrain of western Virginia. Over the 19th and 20th centuries, this carved-out rock formation measuring 66 m (215 ft) high, and 27 m (90 ft) wide was known as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Thomas Jefferson so greatly admired the natural landmark that he purchased the bridge in 1774 from the King of England for 20 shillings. After admiring the bridge, take a stroll down the Cedar Creek Trail, which runs for about one 1.6 km (1 mi), and passes near the Cedar Creek Cafe.
