As a huge fan of zoos, especially struggling little zoos this review is difficult for me to express with a heavy heart. I am giving this an average rating because the zoo part was ok, needs some updat... more »
The allure of the animals was overshadowed by the size of their cages. Even the children walking through were commenting on how small the cages were and how sad the animals looked. It was fun to feed ... more »
This was by far the best zoo experience we have had as a family. The zoo isn't large and doesn't offer as many amenities as some of the larger zoos we have been too, but what it does have are happy an... more »
I was in a group of 7 adults and 7 children today, and we had a great time. Lots of fun for all of us! Facilities were good and the animals seem well cared for. I really wonder whether the people who make negative posts have actually been there. We had a picnic lunch in one of their many picnic areas. Super day - great value!
My girlfriend loves elephants, we drove all the way from East Tennessee (4 hours) and loved it. We had a ball, I work at a safari back in Tennessee and thought that the animals were taken well care of, the staff was absolutely great. They got out the tiger for us so we could see it. I would recommend this place to anyone, the 4 hour drive was definitely worth it. Great experience.
I am absolutely disgusted at the experience I had at this zoo. If I could leave less than one star, I would. We were on a class field trip to this zoo (a class for special needs children) and the staff were absolutely horrible to the children. One of the children (elementary age) said the elephant was "dirty" & a staff member had the audacity to snap at him, saying "he isn't dirty, that's the color of his skin, read the freaking information & you'd know that." WHO SPEAKS TO ANY CHILD LIKE THAT? much less a special needs child who isn't able to read well in the first place. Also, the animals were filthy, in tiny cages not even big enough for them to roam around in, and they didn't appear to have water anywhere in their cages (while in 86 degree weather). These animals deserve to be cared for & treated much better, I can't believe this place is a zoo. It's sad that not only the animals are being treated poorly, but the visitors are also treated poorly by the staff as well. A fun/exciting trip to the zoo ended in a sad day of a bunch of children having their feelings hurt & being disappointed. We will absolutely never be returning & we will never recommend this poor excuse of a "zoo" to anyone we know. People need to know what this place is really about. I would be ashamed to work for the Natural Bridge Zoo.
Who knew that you could ride an elephant AND hold a Wallaby (named Rocko by the way, 90's babies please tell me you are as impressed with this as I am) in the same place? Riding an elephant is a major bucket list item for me and when I found out I could do that 2 hours from home I knew I had to go! The zoo was very interactive, we fed animals, pet baby goats, and my sister looked like a freaking Disney princess in the parakeet atrium. All the animals seemed well fed, and I saw many staff members throughout the day going into exhibits to care for the animals. The staff were all very friendly and had lots of information regarding the animals, it was such a fun experience!
The zoo was absolutely amazing. You get to interact with the animals in so many ways and my baby sister (who is afraid of animals) had a blast. The animals such as llamas, camels and deers got close to us without any hesitation. Also, the staff is extremely friendly and seem to care deeply for the animals. I definitely think that the natural bridge zoo is worth visiting if you like to personally encounter the animals.
