Candy and Memories Made From Scratch

The man behind the famous Savannah, GA Candy is, Stan “the candy man” Strickland. The story begins in Woodbine, Georgia. His mother worked in a candy factory in Woodbine known for their Pralines, Log Rolls, Glazed Pecans, Peanut Brittle and Divinity. At home, she was always making candy, especially during the holidays. She was an old fashioned baker who measured with the “cup” of her hand and always used the best, fresh ingredients. For Stan’s mother, cooking and baking was an art form. Stan baked with his mom in the kitchen learning how to make her spectacular homemade southern delights.

Stan decided to share his family’s sweet southern delights with others at his Savannah, GA candy store. Over thirty years ago, Stan opened Savannah’s Candy Kitchen on historic River Street. Visitors quickly discovered that Stan’s kitchen was the place to experience and taste down home southern sweetness. In order to keep up with the demand for his candy, Stan had to expand; but he made sure to keep his recipes fresh and homemade no matter how big the kitchen grew. Now Savannah’s Candy Kitchen occupies over 4,200 square feet and every square foot is filled to the brim with the best candies, cakes, and confections in the south.

  • Me and my husband loved this place! They have the best coconut and blackberry gelato we have ever had. The chocolate and candy selection was amazing. And the caramel apples are huge! I highly recommend trying this place. I'm definently going back😍 Only thing they need is the prices of the product a lil more visible. Had a hard time finding them.
  • NEATEST PLACE , EVER! So much to look at and so many different types of treats to try. The homemade pralines are fabulous! Want to go back and eat my way through the store. The bad part was... so many people and long lines.. but worth the wait.
  • This is a winter wonderland for the candy lovers out there as well as fudge or chocolate lovers. Walk inside anytime to get free samples of their pralines they are making out front or any of their amazing fudges that they have in the back. This is paradise for those with the sweet tooth, and even if candy is not your thing, it is worth checking out!
  • Mostly packaged stuff from here and there you can find anywhere. BUT - there is a live candy maker. The fudge is out of this world. As are the turtles. Both are made on site. And the people who man the kitchen, as well as the clerks, are fun and engaging. Fall features more inventive ways to do candy apples than you can imagine. A little pricey, but to be expected in the heart of Nashville's tourist strip
  • The best pralines in the country!!! You'll never find these nowhere else. A must have everytime I visit.
