Candy and Memories Made From Scratch

The man behind the famous Savannah, GA Candy is, Stan “the candy man” Strickland. The story begins in Woodbine, Georgia. His mother worked in a candy factory in Woodbine known for their Pralines, Log Rolls, Glazed Pecans, Peanut Brittle and Divinity. At home, she was always making candy, especially during the holidays. She was an old fashioned baker who measured with the “cup” of her hand and always used the best, fresh ingredients. For Stan’s mother, cooking and baking was an art form. Stan baked with his mom in the kitchen learning how to make her spectacular homemade southern delights.

Stan decided to share his family’s sweet southern delights with others at his Savannah, GA candy store. Over thirty years ago, Stan opened Savannah’s Candy Kitchen on historic River Street. Visitors quickly discovered that Stan’s kitchen was the place to experience and taste down home southern sweetness. In order to keep up with the demand for his candy, Stan had to expand; but he made sure to keep his recipes fresh and homemade no matter how big the kitchen grew. Now Savannah’s Candy Kitchen occupies over 4,200 square feet and every square foot is filled to the brim with the best candies, cakes, and confections in the south.

  • We stopped in here to look and got hit with a free sample which led to a purchase of the chocolate pecan praline candy. The ice cream and peanut butter cups may have been had as well! A great treat!  more »
  • We had a huge milk chocolate peanut butter cup and a few pralines. Everything was excellent and fairly priced for the area and experience. Very busy place. Also a great variety of ice cream flavors.  more »
  • If you need to fill your sweet tooth, look no further! The pralines are so delicious! Lots of options, and if you like chocolate anything you are in the right place!  more »
  • Super cool candy store. Lots of selections and they make their products in the front of house in front of you! Very good I've cream and candy! Fun place to stop by while walking on the strip!
  • Oh my the choices! it was a very hot day so we had to pick something to eat quickly. We will be back when we can enjoy more!
  • Stock candy shop. If that's what you're looking for, than it's great. I think there is room for them to expand on selling unique candies. It also seems like they underutilize the big open kitchen up front. There wasn't much going on. It would be cool if they were selling freshly made candied apples from there.
  • Amanda B was working behind the counter and was so incredibly gracious in helping us with selections. She took the time to cut a large caramel apple for our daughter, who was on crutches with a knee brace, so it was easier for her to eat in pieces rather than whole. I hope she sees this, but I just wanted to let her know that after we left my daughter said, "I was having a really bad day and she made it SO much better"! Customer service is a lost art for many companys. Thank you Amanda B for being so amazing and even more so for putting a big smile on our daughter's face!!
  • I only had the homemade ice cream, which was good. They have some usual flavors, such as banana pudding. There are free samples and you may watch a craft person making a featured item.
