Art Museum
A museum with no permanent collection, Frist Center for the Visual Arts, housed inside an old U.S. Post Office building, relies on traveling exhibits and creates its own original shows. Wide, open galleries that cover 2,200 sq m (24,000 sq ft) are filled with artwork and interactive art education. At the Martin ArtQuest Gallery, visitors can experience 30 hands-on displays. Big names, such as Kandinsky, share the space with emerging artists who are just beginning to make their mark. Exhibits and events rotate frequently. • Only thing to note was decor of building inside, otherwise found this so uninviting that we did not go into museum.  more »
  • This historic building has undergone an amazing restoration from a post office to a modern art gallery. Fantastic Art Deco interior also. Well worth the walk up to the top of Broadway.  more »
  • A great place to visit if you enjoy art. The first floor has variety of exhibits that are worth seeing. However, for those with kids, the upper floor is the place to visit. There is an area that allow...  more »

  • I might have been expecting a little more from this than I got. Houses a few very nice art pieces. The majority of what I saw just wasn't for my taste. I did enjoy going upstairs and getting to create my own art though.
  • This place is definitely unique. The building in of its self is incredible. Visited during a day trip to Nashville, so it wasn't very crowded. The samurai exhibit was really stunning and well thought out, being able to see the things that were apart of their daily lives and all. Also, I absolutely love the idea of the rotating exhibits they do here. I would definitely recommend taking the kids here, too. The upstairs kids area has all kinds of really wonderful things to keep little minds thinking.
  • Art is a wonderful thing. Sometimes beautifully done and sometimes not well at all but you have to go see it to truly understand this. Go to the Frist Center throughout the year!
  • Great old building re-made into a museum. Lots of good rotating exhibits plus tours. Take some time from eating and drinking and culture yo' self up!
  • Stellar. The building itself is worth the trip to see. The food in the cafe area is fantastic as well. I had one of the best salads of recent memory before a nice stroll through the exhibit. A Nashville must see.
